Last updated: June 20, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms

3. User Accounts
3.1 Account Creation
To use certain features of the Service, you must sign in using a supported OAuth provider (Google, GitHub, or X/Twitter). You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials with these providers.
3.2 Account Security
We offer optional two-factor authentication (2FA) for enhanced account security. You are encouraged to enable 2FA to protect your account. You are responsible for:
- Keeping your OAuth provider credentials secure
- Safely storing your 2FA backup codes if you enable two-factor authentication
- All activity that occurs under your account
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
3.3 Account Responsibilities
- You must provide accurate and complete information
- You may not transfer or share your account with others
- You may not create multiple accounts for the purpose of manipulation or fraud
- You may not impersonate another person or entity
3.4 Age Requirements
You must be at least 13 years old to use this Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.
3.5 Founder Accounts
Each account on Builders.to is intended for use by founders—individual builders working on their own projects. All users, including free accounts, may create company profiles and post job listings. Company profiles and job postings must accurately represent your organization and comply with all applicable laws.
4. User Content
4.1 Your Content
You retain ownership of all content you submit to the Service ("User Content"), including projects, company profiles, daily updates, comments, service listings, local listings, job postings, and profile information. By submitting User Content, you grant Builders.to a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, reproduce, and distribute your content in connection with the Service.
4.2 Content Responsibility
You are solely responsible for your User Content and agree not to submit content that:
- Violates any law or regulation
- Infringes on intellectual property rights of others
- Contains malware, spam, or malicious code
- Is fraudulent, deceptive, or misleading
- Is defamatory, obscene, or harassing
- Promotes violence or discrimination
- Impersonates another person or entity
- Contains personal information of others without consent
- Manipulates engagement metrics (upvotes, likes, follows) through artificial means
- Promotes illegal products or services
- Promotes or relates to gambling, betting, or games of chance involving real money or items of monetary value
- Contains adult, sexually explicit, or pornographic material
- Is otherwise deemed not safe for work (NSFW)
4.3 AI-Generated Content
If you use any AI assistance to draft content posted on Builders.to:
- You are responsible for reviewing and editing AI-generated content before posting
- AI-generated content is subject to the same content guidelines as manually created content
- You may not use AI features to generate content that violates these Terms, including spam, misleading content, or scraped material
4.4 Content Moderation
We reserve the right, but have no obligation, to review, edit, or remove any User Content at our sole discretion. We may remove content that violates these Terms or that we find objectionable for any reason. Users may report content through our reporting system, and we will review flagged content as appropriate.
4.5 Threaded Comments
Comments on projects and updates support threaded replies. All content guidelines apply equally to replies. Reply chains may be collapsed or moderated if they violate our policies or become disruptive.
4.6 Project Backlinks & Backlink Autopilot
Every published project must include a working backlink to Builders.to (for example, via a Builders.to badge or a project link in your site's footer). We periodically verify backlinks by fetching the public HTML and a small number of script assets from your project URL.
When verification fails, the Backlink Autopilot system runs a weekly cadence of up to three reminder emails before automatically archiving the project on the fourth weekly miss. Archived projects remain reachable by their direct link, but are removed from the public directory, search, trending, and featured slots. The project is automatically restored once the backlink is back in place (either when our weekly check finds it again, or when you re-save the project from its edit page). Throttling and reset rules apply so the cadence does not double-fire on the same day.
4.7 Building in Public & Posting Guidelines
Builders.to is a building-in-public community. The majority of your posts and updates should relate to your builder journey, including but not limited to:
- Wins: Launches, milestones, revenue updates, user growth, and achievements
- Losses: Failed experiments, pivots, setbacks, and honest reflections
- Blockers: Technical challenges, design decisions, and requests for help
- Progress: Daily or weekly build updates, feature demos, and behind-the-scenes work
- Learnings: Insights, tutorials, and advice gained from your building experience
4.8 Promotional Content Limits
To keep the community focused on building rather than advertising:
- Free Users: Free accounts are limited to 1 promotional post per week. Promotional posts include product launches, discount offers, affiliate links, and direct calls to purchase.
- Pro Users: Pro subscribers may receive higher promotional posting limits as part of their plan benefits.
- What Counts as Promotional: A post is considered promotional if its primary purpose is driving sales, sign-ups, or traffic to an external product or service rather than sharing your building journey.
- Organic Updates Are Not Promotional: Sharing a milestone (e.g., "just launched v2!"), asking for feedback, or posting a build update that mentions your product is not considered promotional.
4.9 Low-Quality & Spam Accounts
We actively monitor for low-quality and spammy behavior to protect the community. Accounts identified as low-quality or spam may be subject to the following enforcement actions:
- Rate Limiting: Posting frequency may be throttled for accounts exhibiting spammy behavior, including excessive promotional content, repetitive posts, or bulk engagement.
- Warnings: Accounts may receive formal warnings for first-time or borderline violations. Warnings are logged and repeated violations escalate enforcement.
- Account Removal: Accounts that persistently post spam, low-effort content unrelated to building, or content that degrades the community experience may be permanently removed without prior notice.
Determination of what constitutes "low quality" or "spam" is at the sole discretion of Builders.to. Examples include but are not limited to: posting only affiliate links, auto-generated or scraped content, repetitive self-promotion without meaningful building updates, and engagement farming (e.g., follow-for-follow schemes).
4.10 Prohibited Content Categories
The following categories of content are strictly prohibited on Builders.to:
- Gambling: User-submitted content that promotes, facilitates, or relates to real-money gambling, sports betting, online casinos, lotteries, or games of chance involving items of monetary value.
- Adult Content: Sexually explicit material, pornography, escort services, or any content of a sexual nature.
- NSFW Material: Any content deemed not safe for work, including graphic violence, gore, or disturbing imagery.
- Investment Advice: Personalized investment, financial, legal, or tax advice presented as such.
Projects, profiles, updates, listings, and any other content that fall into these categories will be removed, and the associated accounts may be suspended or permanently banned.
5. Cross-Platform Posting
5.1 Platform Connections
You may connect your Twitter/X account to enable cross-posting. By connecting:
- You authorize us to post content on your behalf to your connected Twitter/X account
- You are responsible for complying with Twitter/X's terms of service
- We store encrypted OAuth tokens to maintain your connection
- You can disconnect Twitter/X at any time, which revokes our access
5.2 Cross-Posted Content
When cross-posting content:
- Content is adapted to the platform's requirements (character limits, media formats)
- You are responsible for the content posted to Twitter/X
- We are not responsible for how Twitter/X handles your content
- Scheduled posts will be published at the specified time if your connection is active
5.3 AI-Assisted Drafting
We offer optional AI-assisted drafting to help you generate or rewrite content for cross-posting. Text you submit for assistance is sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) to produce suggestions. You are responsible for reviewing and editing any AI-generated content before posting, and Section 4.3 applies equally to it.
6. Map & Nearby Discovery
Builders.to provides an interactive map and nearby-builder discovery based on the location you choose to add to your profile. You agree that:
- Your location appears on the map and in nearby discovery only if you add location information to your profile
- Locations are offset by approximately 10 miles to protect your exact address
- You can remove your location at any time to be removed from the map and nearby results
- We are not responsible for any interactions or consequences resulting from location-based discovery
7. Reviews / Testers Marketplace
Builders.to operates a peer review marketplace at /testers where builders can request free feedback on their projects, launches, or landing pages, and other builders can submit reviews to earn karma.
- Free Requests: Opening a review request is free. You choose how many review slots to open.
- Reviewer Rewards: Each accepted review credits the reviewer with karma. Reviewers must follow content quality requirements (including a minimum review length).
- Cancellations: You can cancel an open request at any time before it is fully fulfilled.
- Quality Standard: Low-effort, copy-pasted, AI-spam, or otherwise abusive reviews may be rejected or removed at our discretion. Reviewers found to be gaming the system can have karma clawed back and accounts suspended.
- Public Display: Submitted reviews and any optional 1–5 star rating may be visible on the project page and aggregated into the project's public rating.
- No Guarantee of Outcomes: We do not guarantee that any review request will be fulfilled within a particular timeframe or that any review will be of a particular quality.
8. Bounties Marketplace
The bounties marketplace lets builders post public “gigs” for bug fixes, enhancements, or one-off contracts and lets other builders pitch themselves to pick up the work.
- Bounty Postings: All bounty postings are public and must accurately describe the work, the reward (in tokens, USD, or both), required skills, and any deadline.
- Work Requests: Builders submit non-binding work-request messages. Bounty owners decide who, if anyone, to engage.
- Off-Platform Settlement: Unless explicitly handled by an in-platform escrow feature, payment for bounty work is settled directly between bounty owner and builder. Builders.to is not a party to that agreement and is not responsible for delivery, payment, or quality.
- No Prohibited Work: Bounties may not solicit illegal work, content that violates Section 4, or work intended to manipulate engagement, tokens, or any other on- or off-platform metrics.
- Removal: We may remove bounty listings or work requests that violate these Terms.
10. First 1,000 Founder Rewards
The first 1,000 Builders.to members automatically receive a one-time founder reward bundle (a FoundersMintrow plus perk grants). Enrollment happens at signup based on your signup rank — there is nothing to claim.
- Eligibility: You must be among the first 1,000 signups by rank. Rewards are granted automatically; no action is required.
- Perks: Project trending boost credits, plus post and project bumps for FREE-tier accounts. Specific perks may evolve over time.
- Non-Transferable: Founder rewards are tied to your Builders.to account and cannot be transferred, sold, or assigned to another user.
- Revocation: Founder rewards may be revoked if your account is banned for fraud, abuse, or other Terms violations.
12. Native Mobile Apps & In-App Purchases
Builders.to ships native iOS and Android apps. By using the apps you additionally agree to the following:
- In-App Purchases: Purchases of digital goods (Pro / Founder's Circle subscriptions, mastermind subscriptions, playbook unlocks) initiated from inside the iOS or Android app must use Apple's StoreKit or Google Play Billing as required by their developer policies. Our servers will return a 451 response to non-IAP digital-good checkout attempts from inside the native shell.
- App Store Terms: Apple App Store and Google Play have their own developer and end-user agreements that govern in-app purchases. Their refund, dispute, and chargeback policies apply on top of these Terms for IAP transactions.
- Push Notifications: Native push (APNs / FCM) is opt-in; you can revoke permission from your device settings at any time.
- Web Equivalence: The native shell is built on top of the same web service, and our Terms, Privacy Policy, and content guidelines apply equally regardless of how you access Builders.to.
13. Leaderboard and Karma System
Builders.to features a public leaderboard and karma system:
- Karma Points: You earn karma through community contributions (posting updates, commenting, launching projects, engagement, helpful flags, peer reviews, streak milestones). Karma points determine your level.
- Public Rankings: The leaderboard publicly displays top builders ranked by karma. Your username, profile image, and karma score are visible.
- Karma Levels: Levels (e.g., Newcomer, Contributor, Builder, Mentor, Legend) are earned through sustained engagement and are publicly visible on your profile.
- No Guarantee: Karma points and levels are provided for engagement purposes and do not represent monetary value. We reserve the right to modify the karma system at any time.
14. Builder Map
Builders.to provides an interactive map showing the approximate locations of builders:
- Opt-In Display: Your location appears on the map only if you have provided location information on your profile. You can remove your location at any time.
- Privacy Offset: Locations are offset by approximately 10 miles to protect your exact address.
- Nearby Matching: Your approximate location may be used to help other builders find you through location-based matching.
- No Liability: We are not responsible for any interactions or consequences resulting from location-based discovery.
15. Similar Builder Matching
Builders.to provides matching features to help you find builders with similar profiles:
- Building Categories: You may select a building category (e.g., SaaS, Mobile App, AI/ML, Developer Tools, eCommerce, Fintech, Healthtech, Edtech, Marketplace, Agency, Content, Hardware) to be matched with builders working on similar types of projects.
- Tech Stack Matching: Technologies listed on your profile may be used to find builders with overlapping tech stacks.
- Interest Matching: Your declared interests are used to suggest builders with shared goals.
- No Guarantee: We do not guarantee the accuracy of matching, the availability of similar builders, or outcomes resulting from matching features.
- Data Control: You can update or remove your building category, tech stack, and interests at any time through your profile settings.
17. Advertising
Users may run sidebar advertisements by paying with a card through Stripe. Advertisers agree:
- Sidebar ads are activated with a one-time card payment
- All advertisement content must be truthful and not misleading
- Advertisements must not violate any laws or these Terms
- We reserve the right to reject or remove any advertisement
- Ad payments are non-refundable after the ad begins running
- View and click metrics are provided as estimates, not guarantees
18. Affiliate Program
Builders.to runs an affiliate program that pays a cash commission when a builder you refer makes a qualifying purchase. By participating, you agree that:
- Commission: You earn a 25% commission on the first qualifying purchase by a referred builder. Qualifying purchases currently include Verified, Pro, and Building Support (legacy Founder's Circle, Deskmate, and lifetime deal purchases by existing subscribers also qualify).
- One-Time Per Signup: Commissions are paid once per referred signup, not on recurring renewals, and the same referred builder and purchase type is deduplicated. The one exception is the Building Support financed plan, where the 25% commission is paid on each of the 24 monthly installments ($75 per payment) while payments continue in good standing.
- Hold Period: Commissions are held for approximately 30 days (covering the refund window) before becoming available for payout.
- Payouts: Available commissions are paid via Stripe Connect once you reach the minimum payout threshold (currently $25). You must complete Stripe Connect onboarding to receive payouts.
- Reversals: If the underlying charge is refunded or disputed, the corresponding commission is reversed.
- Anti-Abuse: Self-referrals, fake accounts, or other manipulation of the affiliate program may result in forfeited commissions, account suspension, or ban.
19. Membership Subscriptions & Paid Plans
Builders.to offers the following membership tiers and paid plans:
- Free: 5 posts/day, 1 project, access to the builder Discord community, and API access (subject to the same 5/day post limit). Posting builds karma, which is also earned through referrals, streak milestones, helpful engagement, and reviews.
- Verified ($25 one-time, Verified forever): 10 posts/day, up to 2 projects, a verified badge on your profile, a recorded MVP review from the team (booked via the link sent after checkout), and API access (10/day post limit). Includes everything in Free. Pay once via Stripe — no recurring billing.
- Pro ($50 one-time, Pro forever): 15 posts/day, up to 5 projects, verified Pro badge, weekly sprint check-ins via Discord, and API access (15/day post limit). Includes everything in Verified. Membership requires you to complete a recorded video verification interview with the CEO within seven (7) days of your purchase. Failure to complete the interview within that window may, at our discretion, result in suspension or termination of Pro access without refund beyond the 30-day money-back guarantee window.
- MVP Validation ($360 one-time): An in-depth feedback session on your product, market, and positioning, booked via TidyCal, with written follow-up notes. The one-time fee is non-refundable once the session is delivered, except as required by law.
- Building Support (from $5,000 one-time, or $300/month financed): A done-for-you build engagement. Scope, deliverables, and timelines are agreed separately. You may pay in one of two ways: (a) a one-time fee, generally non-refundable once work begins, except as required by law; or (b) a financed plan of $300/month for 24 months (a $7,200 total) in exchange for a 5% share of your gross revenue for 24 months from the start of the engagement — no equity is taken. The monthly payments are billed through Stripe as a recurring subscription that automatically ends after 24 payments, and the revenue share is invoiced monthly based on revenue verified through your connected Stripe account. Choosing the financed plan requires accepting these terms at checkout.
- Mastermind: An optional separate $9/month Stripe subscription for the mastermind program with its own access and benefits, governed by the same payment and cancellation rules.
- Legacy plans (Founder's Circle, Deskmate, and the Lifetime Deal): These plans are no longer offered to new members. Members who subscribed before they were discontinued keep their existing perks and billing terms, and recurring subscribers may continue or cancel as described below.
- Billing: Verified and Pro are one-time Stripe payments that grant their perks without recurring billing. Mastermind, and any legacy Founder's Circle or Deskmate subscriptions, are billed through Stripe and auto-renew unless cancelled.
- Cancellation: One-time purchases (Verified, Pro, one-time Building Support, and the legacy lifetime deal) are non-cancellable — you keep the perks as described. Recurring subscribers (Mastermind, and legacy Founder's Circle or Deskmate) may cancel at any time; card-paid access continues until the end of the billing period. For the financed Building Support plan, you may stop the recurring monthly payments through Stripe, but the revenue-share obligation agreed for the engagement survives cancellation of the payment schedule as set out in the separate agreement.
- Refunds: Every paid plan is backed by a 30-day money-back guarantee from the date of purchase. After that, subscription and one-time payments are generally non-refundable except as required by law.
- In-App Purchase: If you start a paid plan from inside the iOS or Android app, the purchase is billed by Apple or Google under their in-app-purchase rules.
- Feature Changes: We may modify membership features at any time with reasonable notice.
