(24)Day 48.
I think I finally figured out what I want to start working on next.
2 days ago I shut down my previous business for a number of reasons and I've spent the last 48 hours trying to figure out what to do next.
I've settled on an idea: it's basically online birthday cards for gen Z which seems like a really stupid idea... and it is because most e cards are shit.
But for quite a few reasons, I think the market for a more modern version of this product exists and assuming it does the produ
Question for all y'all: What motivated you to start building? Was it solving a problem you had, fixing something via niche domain knowledge, or something else entirely?
i'm shutting down my SaaS.
this is day 46. the first failure in the books.
so, what am i gonna pivot to?
i have this long list of ideas and quantitative ratings based off advice that i got from Jason Cohen (created 2 billion dollar companies) so hopefully his advice is solid.
i'll have more information for you tomorrow, see you then
(P.S: for those of you who use Choreographd, it isn't going away. I just won't be actively developing it for the foreseeable future. If you want a refund or
day 45
i started today by going on a 5 mile run with my buddy. i didn't get any videos, but trust me my knees hurt.
when i got back, i did some cold outreach on reddit and found a few very good posts to reach out on so I'm hoping that I see at least a few users from today
then i started going through this really long list of sites to post my startup on. most of these sites probably aren't that helpful but they might help with domain rating which is basically just where your site appears on se
i'm a college student and software engineer and i'm trying to make $100k
today started off slow. i got some stuff polished up for this product that im building in stealth, then I spent a bunch of time trying to fix this really old dirtbike - i made progress but it's definitely not ready to ride.
then for the rest of the day, I focused on growth as usual. i spent a good bit more time on X today, but i still did a bunch of cold DMs on reddit.
tomorrow i'm gonna prioritize figuring out if this i
day 43 of trying to make $121k in 14 months.
i'm a college student and software engineer, and I started today by spending 4 hours focusing on growth for my scheduling platform for founders (god help me).
i added another 30 highly targeted entries to my cold DMs spreadsheet, and optimized a few growth tactics for X and Reddit.
i also finished an MVP of another tool that I'm making, but I'm building that in stealth right now so i'm not gonna talk about it too much.
tomorrow i'm gonna iterate l
day 42 of making $121k as a college student and software engineer
finals are finally over. i haven't gotten my grades back yet, but they can't be that bad.
i now have a little over two weeks until my next internship starts which means i'm gonna lock in.
i have a few ideas i wanna pursue, but i'm still focusing on my planning system for founders. mainly marketing and growth.
anyways, i'm gonna get back to it. see you later
day 41 of 433
my last two finals are in 12 hours, thank god.
aside from that i spent about 3 hours optimizing the landing page and onboarding for my online platform for founders and i'm about to sit down and keep doing cold outreach.
i'm also gonna take a minute and list my platform on a few of these 300 launch sites
wish me luck, see you tomorrow
i'm a college student and I'm trying to make $121k. day 40.
i spent a lot time doing marketing today for my online platform for founders. i saved like $50 a month by remaking a paid tool with Claude which is really helping me find leads on Reddit and I'm gonna do the same for LinkedIn and Twitter in the near future
otherwise, finals are still killing me. I'm almost done, thank god, i have 3 in the next two days and then i'm out.
i'm a college student and software engineer, and i'm trying to make $121k.
this is day 39. i focused a lot on building today - i got a lot of features and changes implemented althought there's still a lot to do in the way of user experience
i also made a bunch of content for LinkedIn and Twitter, about 3 days worth.
my first out of 3 finals is tomorrow, so wish me luck. i still have plenty of time to study though, so I'm not super worried about it. alright, see you then.
BTW, i make vids ou
day 38 of making $121k as a college student and software engineer
finals are still killing me. i have 1 on thursday and then 2 on friday, but I should be fine
i got some more feedback from a few of my users, and added a few features based off of those suggestions. some of those features are still sitting in GitHub as a PR, but I'll get them done soon.
finally, i'm gonna spend some time optimizing the landing page with session replays just to maximize my conversion rate
day ??? of 433
i've been off my game for the past few days... primarily due to being sick, but also a helluva lot of burnout
we back though, added two (technically 1.5) new features to Choreographd today
take care of yourself
day 28 of 433
early update... but I'm entirely OOO tomorrow working IT at a state sports league so there's no way I'll have time to post an update later tonight.
90% of my focus is on growth now, 10% on building. 2 of 7 of my cold DMs have gotten a response (yes, I know this is like absolutely no cold DMs whatsoever) which is decent.
revisiting a few strategies to improve growth, and then... just grinding i guess.
day 27 of 433
look i'm not gonna lie to you. there's not much going on right now. i'm not building that much because im spending all of my time focused on growth.
i did start working on reddit today, and i do need to come up with a different strategy for that... but it's realistically not that different from what i've been doing.
and... i'm gonna get back to studying for finals.
day 26 of 433
i got a lot of feedback from my first paying customer today, and spent about 4 hours making those changes!
then i started doing cold outreach and tried to get some of my target market on my product. i wasn't able to do too much today because i do have to actually start studying for finals. i'm gonna go do that, see you tomorrow.
day 25 of 433
BIG NEWS! i made my first $5 today.
i spent the first half of my day improving the landing page and a few performance issues, and then started on cold outreach.
i have this big fat spreadsheet with about 25 members of ICP. this is intentionally small, i'm focusing on warming up each connection before i even send a dm.
in other words i'm aiming for really high conversion rates. i'll explain more some other time, see you then
day 24 of 433
I just shipped a feature that directly solves the biggest problem my target market has: the pain of context switching
(AKA going from software to growth to sales and back to software in a single day)
anyways, tomorrow I'm going back to talking to users and doing cold outreach because I'm determined to get my first paying customer this week.
day 23 of 433
i was up until 3 am last night, but that's fine because i got up and focused on growth as i have been for the last 3 days.
i've spent a lot of time scraping together problem and product feedback across a few platforms and now i feel like i have the ability to refactor the platform, the landing page, and onboarding. so, i'm gonna go do that, see ya tomorrow
day 22 of 433
not gonna lie, i did nothing today. for those of you who don't know, this is my off day.
i spent a little bit of time on twitter, but that more scrolling than actual work.
i spent most of the day recharging and doing stuff with people, so i will see you tomorrow when I actually do something useful
day 21 of 433
i just got back from a programming competition at my college, i haven't done DSA for about a year so i got absolutely cooked.
i got a lot done in terms of user feedback today and figuring out what customers want.
reddit has actually been decent and someone on twitter offered to help me with branding, which i'm super happy about.
anyways, back to iteration
day 20 of 433
today was pretty much just marketing and trying to get people on the platform itself. i did tweak onboarding as i mentioned yesterday, but that was pretty much it. i'm still focusing on twitter and reddit.
i am noticing one problem - no one has the problem that choreographd solves. and i don't see anyone complaining about it publicly, but we'll handle that later.
day 19 of 433
something big happened today: i looked at posthog and traumatized myself.
users are fine. conversions on the other hand, are not. no one has even made it to the platform yet (not on their own at least) - i.e. there's no reason to work on the platform until people are actually getting to it.
so tomorrow is gonna be a lot of optimization and talking to users. past that, i do need to hit my goal of 90 followers on twitter but that should be really easy to do
day 18 of 433 focused on building and iterating today. i added a bunch of defaults, improved onboarding, and fully implemented mobile support, because like 5 people have asked about that.
i also spent some time studying and helping my buddy move, and I'm planning on building a lot more tomorrow.
finally, i worked on improving the format for the Shorts/Reels that I make based off of all the data that i've gotten from the past 10 shorts i've made
day 17 out of 433
spent close to 10 hours on twitter/discord/reddit/etc. talking to actual users instead of guessing what they want.
dark mode and bug fixes done. mobile support next then github integrations.
gotta make this more than a "todo app"
